Good Communication, Clarity, and Truthfulness:

Before even you even HIRE your video team, consider this: Do they communicate well? Are they being upfront about their capabilities? Are you being truthful to them about your budget? Do you have realistic goals?

good communication, clarity, and truthfulness

While perusing the web I can across this story/letter that epitomizes the title. And today, we absolutely need honesty and clarity in our communication. So before we dive into tons of technical topics and terms. I’ll just leave this right here:

Although they only existed for seven years and released just three albums, Nirvana were a band of immeasurable influence in the music world thanks in no small part to Smells Like Teen Spirit, a single track on Nevermind, their second album. It was this song that brought them out into the open, going on to sell millions of copies and win countless awards, its iconic video seemingly broadcast on MTV every 20 minutes for the next six months. 17 months after Nevermind’s release, the band began to record what would be their final album, In Utero—produced by Steve Albini, outspoken engineer extraordinaire. In November of 1992, shortly before they formally agreed on his involvement, Albini wrote to Nirvana and laid bare his philosophy in a pitch letter that is fascinating from start to finish.

Letter to Nirvana

This is how I think, the letter shows his sincerity and he is totally upfront about facts and figures. I wish all clients and vendors were this clear.

How important is a website?

How important is a good website?

You need a good website.  Not just ANY website, but a GOOD website.  And yes, we are biased since we build and manage websites, but look around at everything you do on a daily basis.  Our lives are fully entrenched online.  We routinely order food and household supplies online.  Plenty of banking has moved online.  Household services and even healthcare is available online.  Everyday you research products and services.  I bet most consumers not only head to the web to learn and compare your services, but they may even form an opinion about your firm and its product!  Social media is important, but sometimes consumers just need more than a witty tweet or short flashy post.  Whether or not you even get a chance to educate or inform your prospect may happen on your website.

“You never get a second chance to make a good first impression.”

What is a GOOD website?

A good website not only informs or educates but tells a complete story.  We think that means an interesting design.  Clear navigation, images and video.  Going far beyond simple text a good website keeps visitors engaged.  A good website lets visitors take the next step;  purchase products or services directly, or at the very least ask for more information or reserve an appointment.

How should we start to build a website?
First, sit down with a professional that besides your budget, will help you navigate terms and technology.  We recommend divided up your website needs into two aspects;

Information and Content

Text, Images, Video, Data.

Engagement and Next Steps

Analytics, user capture, sign ups, storefronts, and more. *we will cover many off these technologies in an future post.

Many clients need a basic website that simply informs clearly and with a complete message that comes directly from the top.  Some industries can take advantage of new web technologies like online shopping, reservations, user tracking, and more.  A lot can be learned by your website data.  Who, when, where, and even why they visit or move forward with a sale or request for more info can be learned.  We make complicated technologies easier to understand and simple to implement if you need them.

Start or refresh your online presence today with a new website built creatively and smartly.
